DJ weekend

Check out Rachel's, Mette's, or Shiway's blog for the latest Wyatt photos. Fun hanging out with the girls, we never even saw the boys cause Dave got a moose. Shiway gave me a bunch of good books for my Antarctic trip next month - I am so crazy excited about it, but overwhelmed too.

Jules,
The number 1 thing I've ever done was going to Antarctica. It outranks the Peace Corps-- and probably even having kids. I left from Chile and was on the Palmer for 6 weeks. What's up on your trip? Will you be in Anchorage at all before then? How about after?? I'm so excited for you, and jealous! Have fun!!! Kim

WOW Kim -
I know I'm incredibly lucky to have this opportunity - I'm working on a ship for www.quarkexpeditions.com for a month. Where did you work?
Do you have a blog I can link up?
No news on the Anchorage gig yet, hopefully...
Julie

Jules,
I'll have to look up quark expeditions tomorrow. I'm so excited for you!!!! I worked for a professor that I took physical oceanography from and was a TA for while in grad school at Santa Cruz. His name was Ted Foster. We mainly did CTD casts and goofed off. We were in the Weddell sea trying to get to Ted's CTD stations and also retrieve moored current meters. Last time I went home to Pennsylvania I found all my old letters, journals, etc from that trip. I thought I'd lost them all, but they were sitting in the closet in my old room! I've seen on your blog that you're friends with Rachel Potter. I don't know her at all, but she works (or worked) with Tony D'Aoust who has spent tons of time in Antarctica--tho' maybe he got burned out on it. I have a really lame blog that I started to share news about Ella & Riley, but then decided that I just didn't write enough and mostly switched to sharing photo albums online. Maybe if someone is linking to my blog I'll actually add to it occasionally. It's funny, I chose the same background, etc that Ellie & Jeff have. Ahhhh, is it really almost 1 am!!!! The Girls will be up in 6 hours--rarin' to go. I'm supposed to be taking them to the Kaladi on Brayton for a coffee/knitting/kid social hour. I'll never make it if I don't get to bed.

Here's my lame-o blog: http://kimellariley.blogspot.com/index.html

and the slightly better Picassa site: http://picasaweb.google.com/kimkak/

Smiles, Kim
(thinking of you cruising the icy seas, hoping you have as much fun as I did)
