NH visit

she's just absolutely adorable...

Bryce is the bug kid, he also loves to take pictures - as you can see he's a very artsy photographer -

The colors are starting to change here, i had forgotten just how red the sugar maples are. I discovered this lily pond close to their house, why is it all boys are obsessed with throwing rocks into water?

Needles - Canyonlands

We made a quick day stop on the way back to durango to hike out to the druid arch in Canyonlands. Great hike, even more spectacular geology, but still so dang hot!

San Rafael Swell, Utah

Spent a few days hiking slot canyons and biking around the swell, an awesome landscape with just incredible geology. It was pretty dang hot in the desert tho.

mt sneffels

I got sucked into the colorado 14er craze, so we decided to hike mt sneffels outside of the very cool small mountain town of Ouray, CO. The altitude was harsh for this sea-level girl, but the views where spectacular and absolutely worth it.

happy to be coming down, and then driving down another 5000 feet or so to the desert in utah.
4 wheeling some crazy Colorado mtn roads.

durango

great hike with dianne and joe.
a few photos from here in durango. we're just hanging round here this week then heading out to utah and the desert next week for some good slot canyoning and biking.

Lazy mornings on the deck. Tim built a great house up on missionary ridge, the last house abutting forest service lands with an awesome deck. We've paid a price tho for these lazy mornings - we've gotten caught everyday in the afternoon heat lighting storms.
lunch spot while mtn biking the colorado trail.
kayaking the Animas River right through town. water level is super low, but still I got dumped here in smelter rapid and couldn't hit my roll - very humbling. This just ain't like the Chena river that flows through fairbanks - (and durango-ites are too serious to stop at all the bars!) You can see the slalom gates they drop for races in the spring with much higher water levels.
