new job

here's my new boss, Glenn Juday. he's a really well-known climate change ecologist professor at the u. we had this tour this week, that included going in this permafrost tunnel - it was pretty cool....
 

trail run

solstice was a bust for me this year, kinda auspicious to wake up on your birthday with a violent stomach flu. just barely made it to the bbq, but ben got some fun pics - check out their blog this week.
feeling much better now, i got in a great trail run yesterday on pinnell mtn trail. kristen hiked with the dogs, and i ran. great day, the scenery was outrageous as usual. i didn't bring my camera but here's my favorite pic from the last time i did this trail a few years ago. no snow this year!

chitina

i went dipnetting with dea and ben in chitina this weekend, we got skunked, it sucked. no fish to be had. there's some science in predicting when the fish will be running, but mainly i think it's just plain luck. and we had none. the copper river.

caz had a better weekend than we did. she stayed at the farm with jeff in delta while we went fishing. none of the dogs would play with her so she harrassed the goats ..... 

denali highway

i went camping last weekend on the denali highway with a few friends. we froze, but had lots of fun (fairbanks broke a 113 year record low june day). later in the summer this place can be crawling with hunters but we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. the scenery was just outrageous... looking out the tent, at mt. hayes (?), i think...
